When I logged into my webmaster tools this morning, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my backlinks had been updated. Some of my sites are getting serious upticks in their backlink count, which as we all know is an indication of potential pagerank which leads to higher SERPs (with the proper SEO of course).
Google is becoming far better at updating the backlinks on a regular basis and keeping them fresh. Webmasters monitoring their sites' progress need timely information, and at one time, Google was only providing monthly backlink updates, and much of the information was already dated by the time it actually reached the tool. I still see some links that no longer exist listed in the webmaster tools, but the results are promising. Between this backlink update and the last update, a lot of dead backlinks have been removed, and some of my good backlinks are showing up.
The question still remains though: why are NOFOLLOW links being shown in the webmaster tools?

Just curious, but what tool do you use to check your backlinks....there are so many out there and it's always nice to see if there is something newer and possibly better.

I use a proprietary tool that I created myself. I may offer it online, but only as a subscription service. It's a fairly simple application that does some pretty cool things.
Unfortunately, right now it's a Windows application that I wrote in VB6, so I'll have to port it over to ASP.NET before deploying it online.
Just to get some feedback, would you pay $14.95 per month for a tool that allowed you to track unlimited URLs, the keywords associated with them and the SERPs for each keyword? (it would also contain some other, proprietary functions that I won't talk about until I actually release it - these are the "killer app" features that do some really cool things)
internetbaron's backling tool is one of the best with backlinkwatch just search them on google to find exact websites, but google updates its backlink database every 1 or 2 weeks so no worries.
